The Indian Army received its first batch of three Apache AH-64E attack helicopters from the US on July 22, 2025, marking a major boost in combat strength and operational capabilities.
- These state-of-the-art choppers, made by Boeing, were delivered to Hindon Airbase and will be deployed to the Army’s Jodhpur-based Apache squadron.
- The Apaches are equipped for precision attacks on enemy troops, tanks, and bunkers—even in hard-to-reach mountainous areas. Their advanced systems include Hellfire missiles, a 30mm cannon, rockets, and night-vision targeting for day/night operations.
- This delivery is part of a Rs 5,691 crore deal for six helicopters (with the next three arriving by year-end) after multiple delays. The Indian Air Force already operates 22 Apaches.
- The induction is called a “milestone moment” and will significantly sharpen India’s offensive ability, especially along the western border with enhanced support against enemy threats.
