New Delhi: On 10 February 2026, India and Greece formally signed a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) to strengthen defence industrial cooperation, marking a strategic step in widening bilateral security ties.

The agreement was signed at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, following bilateral talks between India’s Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, and Greek Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikolaos-Georgios Dendias.

Key elements of the cooperation:
🔹 Five-year roadmap: The JDI initiates development of a structured five-year plan for defence industry collaboration, laying out a timeline and joint priorities for technology sharing and co-production.

🔹 Industrial partnership: The two sides agreed to expand capacity in their respective indigenous defence sectors, drawing on India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative and Greece’s defence reforms under Agenda 2030.

🔹 Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan: Alongside the JDI, both ministers exchanged a military cooperation plan for 2026, outlining areas for joint exercises, training and operational engagement.

The visit also included the Greek Defence Minister’s tour of defence and industrial facilities in Bengaluru and discussions with Indian defence production and start-up representatives, underscoring a commitment to deeper technology and capacity collaboration.
